Rental Registration & Inspection

Red Lion Borough Code of Ordinance Chapter 11, Part 2 requires registration with the Borough of ALL RESIDENTIAL RENTAL UNITS AND TENANTS. Please complete and return a Registration Residential Rental Unit & Tenant Registration Requirements

Red Lion Borough Code of Ordinances, Chapter 11, Part 2, requires all residential rental units and all tenants to be registered with the Borough.

Landlords must complete and submit a Rental Registration Form for each residential rental property they own within Red Lion Borough. The Borough’s mailing address and fax number are included on the form.

Landlords are also required to submit an updated RRF within thirty (30) days of any change in occupancy.

Annual Safety Inspection Requirements

Red Lion Borough adopted Ordinance #2010‑09‑01, which requires annual inspections of smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in all leased or rented dwelling units. The ordinance includes the following requirements:

  • Smoke Detectors:
    • Must be installed at the top of stairways or between sleeping areas and potential fire sources.
    • In multi‑family dwellings, smoke detectors must be installed in all common hall areas.
    • For common hallways longer than 20 feet, one smoke detector is required for every 20 feet or portion thereof.
  • Fire Extinguishers:
    • Multi‑family dwellings must have one fire extinguisher on every floor.

The Borough will contact all landlords to schedule these annual safety inspections for each rental unit.
